Wills Kinsley owes his life to the bicycle; his parents met in college when his dad repaired his mother’s broken English 3-speed. After a childhood spent on wheels and working in a bike shop in high school he attended Hampshire College completing his thesis by building and operating a pedal powered bike shop cart that provided free community bicycle education. After creating a series of cargo bike designs and smaller bike-part sculptures, he was commissioned to weld sculptural fences for the East Trenton Collaborative and Boys & Girls Club Teaching Garden. He has also designed and fabricated multiple free standing bicycle parking sculptures and re-crafted parking meter poles downtown into bike racks.
Wills’ work on large scale public art projects like Windows of Soul as a founding member of Sage Coalition and Gallery 219 led to a career at Z Signs where he designs, fabricates and installs custom signage for local businesses. He has collaborated with artists on multiple large scale installations throughout Trenton including ‘Reflect/Transform’ on Montgomery Street, Bentrice Jusu’s 'East Trenton' photo mural and the restoration of Nam June Paik’s PBS (1963-2000)
Wills has worked for years to promote cycling in the city through the Social Ride, a monthly bicycle tour of local history, and as the President of the Trenton Cycling Revolution, a 501c3 bicycle advocacy group that organizes the Tour de Trenton. He teaches high school students bicycle maintenance at the Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange and is the founder of Trenton Bike Polo
